Once upon a rainbow clear..

Once upon a time there was a "Rainbow" that wanted to exist not in the way that a beautiful thing wants to endure but to linger and to mean so much more. It wanted to enlighten a person on a dreary day it wanted to bring sunshine to those that didn't know the way. Rainbows are often translucent and not very visible items but to see one in it's glory is as -

if you have witnessed a unicorn in the morning.. Beautiful sight it may well be but we also know that its as fleeting as hummingbirds wings on the cuff of a shirt! Not done and never seen!!

Although I have seen numerous attempts to change it and rename it "Electric Sliding is something we do with zest and fun! and we do it well and don't forget 'ON TIME' Got to love the dance~ Come on and let's party right!!!!

I see the same motions that folks go through each day~ We feed our young ,we protect and have dreams about where we are going.We glance upon the stars and breathe a sigh of relief when troubles past. We all share the same death and birth woes that everybody else does.. Why then is everything so different? I watch as the media shouts that for every crime committed another neighborhood is not safe. I too want what other folks want a safe environment where my children grow and prosper along with children of all races. I don;t want the separation of society like the racists do. i believe there is a chance if we put trust and communication in front to see just what our fears actually are! Are you afraid that your children and mine will become friends? If so then it's much too late, they go to schools together they date and interact during educational engagement. They see each other at the malls and often times they even sit near each other on the bus. How then can you still teach them to hate? Hate is such a monstrosity of a word

, it conjures up themes of dark caverns and doom, it shows how prehistoric our minds still remain. technology dictates that we become modern in our thoughts and deeds. Why is it so hard to let go of the past and go on to our futures. Does hate have to continue to be on the plate? Time is of an essence now will we relegate our children to hate like we have or will we allow them the freedom to choose their friends and allies as their own? Let go and give them permission to become unencumbered by that weight tied around their necks please let them be free from hate,prejudices and animosity. There is no room for those emotions anymore our lives are much to full with other more important things to be taken care of~ Live and let live is the motto for all or should be! Let it go and become FREE!

Unions with Solidarity: ONE NATION UNDER GOD

Today was a day that started out like any regular day did. I watched the weather channel to see what the climate was and proceeded to put on something comfortable and loose. I planned to take pictures of the activities on the mall. People were everywhere as you can see.There were a tatal of 1600 buses alone at RFK Stadium and 290 in Maryland anywhere they could be parked they were. The word on the streets was that people and the unions are in DC to have a showdown with politicians on working conditions and Social program reforms. I must say they are in need of upheaval for all the reasons that are listed. Congress doesn't want to pass any more reforms on HealthCare but will not go back on the promise to amend certain passages they already have let up on. For instance how can they take back the aid to veterans that have fought in the war? Concessions that they have given for medical aid to seniors Yes! we also know they want to privatize Social Security! Just how will that work? Have a bidding war over what companies will own and regulate the rest of our lives our monies, our investments? No that doesn't sound feasible either! Whan it comes down to the "Y" exactly who will govern those laws that maintain and keep us afloat upon the seas of life. I for one don't know thw answers but being a part of a movement to be counted does appeal to me in these ways. If one doesn't stand up to be counted you can best believe you won't be. Our society has gone to the point of indifference when it comes down to everyone having a vote and a point.

of view. The march yesterday proved that we still care about our futures and the fact showcases that we do have power. Power in numbers to be exact and we have to parlay that and send a message to the powers that be! That we won't sit down and allow politicians, our President or any other entity to just go on making those decisions that lead to us not being involved in our own LIVES~ absolutely ludicrous to believe that we don't want to be a part of that Number~ We can all sing now- Oh! when the Saints come marching home!!

Gay Pride Weekend Bash

here are some of the highlights that i caught with my trusty camera as i walked back through the crowds reveling on Pa. Ave. NW. these photos were my way of paying homage to a really fun day with absolutely true solidarity on the menu. the participants really put on the Ritz in everything they did. We had a smattering of every age group and race that could be reckoned with on the mall. Now this is what i call living out 'LOUD"

Women & Men of Color are so very awesome!

As I sit watching the news and seeing all the calamity that encompasses us in the world my mind ponders upon the many roles that we as black women have embraced and succeeded with. I remember the Mammy roles that Hollywood cast upon us never realizing the breadth  that we as a people could do and be. The many actors and actresses that line the big screen have the fore runners to thank now that the spell is cast. The Nurses like 'Julia' the Doctors and soap operas that let our color become another member of the cast on day time TV. The Kings of Comedy, Will Smith who started out as A Fresh Prince and now is a phenomenal actor, father and spokesman. Denzel Washington who began as a role player not realizing that he would become one of the Hollywood's legends. Butterfly MacQueen a small dark woman who played many Mammy roles upon 'Gone with the Wind and other actresses Pearl Bailey, Lena Horne I could go on and on but the part that makes me so proud is the resilience that these people imparted upon our people even though they had to do the 'Chittling Circuits going through the back doors, not being paid on time all of these things that during the time before Civil Right was even on the books, we fought and have been victorious. barriers are still present when it comes to our people but slowly and surely they are making headway. Al Jolsen was the best I had ever seen in Black Face but what about the faces that are Black w/ white faces and won't take off the mask that they have put upon the visage ,that won't stand up when there's no one else to do so. Those are the people whom are satisfied with there piece of the pie and are absorbed in the very self interest that left us out in the cold in the first place. Martin Luther King says its not the bad people that we pray for because there absolution will come from above but the silent ones who won't speak out for others, that are their own people and in the same plight! Never forget History will and can repeat itself and often does when the climate is left unchanged and not watched over. As I sit back and reminisce about those that came before I share some of the images that give me so much joy and happiness knowing how far we have come and even the fact that we still have a little marching on to do!

Truth was there never was a boogie man he was invented so that we didn't roam to far out of your reach for all concerned he could have been Homie the Clown~
But we smiled we laughed and we played always counting another day as if it was an hour
when the people came to take us away we didn't know then that this would be the last day of our mother our protector ,our safety valve for in a flash you were gone from us all we have now is the past~ we couldn't have known for the sake of writing your name that your health could be the last of a sentence that would haunt me and mine for the eternity it took( 6 )six little words written in a tiny book~ small spot indicated may be cancerous~ that stole you away on a fateful day while the laundry sat on the stairs mama how I shook as the tears came down my neck why mama didn't you care enough to check?
Today is the first day of the rest of your life live it as such~

Who Left you in charge to Judge?

This goes out to all the people who in their utter ignorance ~ that's the only way that I can convey this message! If theres nothing good to say just stick it and be quiet. I have noticed lately that notable folks that have following and exposure through the media,internet and any intellectual knowledge franchises have taken the bull by the horns literally and Dog anyone of color out! A case in point Precious~The Movie although the movie has won acclaim for monique and the young lady who in fact portrays Precious I am so tired of disguished rhetoric coming out about ther size her supposed ugliness,her obsesity and last but not least the unkind jokes and wisecracks that come from our people. Howard Stern may be a some folks idea of a legitimate critic?? Look this is not the world through colored glasses but give somebody a break. Yeah we jone!( a term used by blacks to do the dozens and say things that elicit laughs) for instance your momma so ugly she broke the glass, the window and the roof if its fiberglass~ Okay you got that but when our comments start taking away from a person's morality and their personas we have gone too far! We don't edify anyone but some of these perpetrators claim to be Christian -minded individuals that love God and his creations! What if God looked like 'Precious"? All the folks that have practically scalped the girl that only pertrayed a role in Hollywood along with another sister "Monique who has by far been an inspiration since being a comedian is a hard field to get recognition in. Oprah Winfrey had at one time been the brunt of so many observers jokes and whispers about her weight,non marital status or lack of but for some reasons that we won't mention all that has suddenly faded away with so many of their nasty remarks now come kudoes by the ton and invites to anything social and elite. I dare to say does it have anything to do with 'let's say Wealth? My how far did she have to come? I guess for some People of Color its called monetary status,even Jay -Z  who does have a characteristic 'Black man's nose but if I buy every Caucasian that has bent down to bite and shine his shoes i would and could fill a book. People all across the world have their own conception of beauty,some say it comes from within,others say it is carried around like a cape on one's shoulders some even claim that Beauty is only skin deep in which i agree. I view the people that judge don't really matter but when we as a people tend to agree and go along with the verbal harrassment i feel disgusted knowing that we are laughing along with the perpetrator but we are definiely included in that same joke. Please don't get it twisted many a black man has had to still 'Yessir Boss' to get from point A -Z but whn we really don't have to any more where is your manhood or womanhood? Why do we still have to ridicule and treat individuals that have done asbsolutely nothing to you in the way of harm Grief! That perplexes and give me pause to say that our evolution is not going forward but backward in the way of living and assimulating to a life in this complex society it makes me pause and wonder do we see the joke is not about her(Precious ) but about us. I used to hear my parents discuss the fact that we did a better  job of annihilation than any genocide could do, Why? because of self hate and why would you laugh snd poke fun at a young lady who has arrived at her dream being an actress whereas most of us haven't even scratched the surface of ours. Our society also terms this as hating! I can only allude too the facts that if that's hating a term used to convey jealousies and other feelings that would make the average person uncomfortable because there is absent any support of any level. We have made the Willie Lynch hypopthesis truth when we constantly self propogate hate from within our ranks and devisive acts are the true strategies of an enemy that feels that we are to ignorant to think for ourselves thus relying on their own definitions of us. We have been coons,niggers,porch -monkeys,gorillas ,non-human ,mongoloid,stupid,ignorant and don't forget nappy headed whores all with the same contempt that wss aimed at that young sister ,who has just started her foray into a civilized society by merely portraying an abused child woman. i feel for her because at least in the pre- civil rights eras we had someone to represent us amd stand up for us now we haven't even learned to be radically against anyone that speaks against our race! We sit and laugh along with the perpetrator,now how stupid is that? Everyone has a symbol of beauty, a nose ring in some culture may be the epitome of beauty , dark skinned may be another,being rotund and obese in another, being wraithlike is another image. Now the thing that has me puzzled is what is your true definition ?do you even know? or has the media and society have you as befuddled as the next individual have you even considerd what is truly a sight to behold or are you considering someone else concept because when you get down too it you may not know the abstract idea of forming an opinion, the enemy still brain washes those whose minds haven't developed enough to have ther own mindset that enables them to make choices based on their dislikes or likes and bases every thing they come upon  on anothers concepts! Read Explore and develop your own set of opinions and stop being lead by your tongue down a road that does nothing for you as a human being. If you believe in God know that he has bequeathed you with a conscious to be used to differentiate right from wrongs and be confident and remain convicted in your beliefs that is the true mark of an adult and for once the true makings of a strong individual, a remnant of the past that should come back to roost with the chickens~ I hope and pray that this will one day be a fact instead of a thought Ps: those that didn't like the movie because of the cursing the violent content any of those reasons and rationales remember it was only a betrayal, I for one identified not because I went through that  abuse but because there are many females that are as we speak the victim of these self same acts and if nothing more but to help identify it the movie hit the spot! That is why there are choices made when We decide to view something but the Beauty is that we do have a choice that isn't made for us or is it? I have a wide array of taste's some i didn't even realize until i was exposed to them and it was astonishing when I discovered that i had a knack for certain things but my limitations that held me back because of me allowing others full reign upon my thinking faculties at one time kept me at a disadvantage but i have freed myself of that illness,that disease of not asserting my human rights~ Of Choices! We all have those execute and utilize those they are just as inalienble as the Constituiton dictates~
